Do I have to verify my identity to place a bid?
Yes — a valid bid on a home requires your identity to be established, normally with BankID or MinID at the first bid. On Finnting this identity step is currently in demo mode, because we do not yet have real BankID/Vipps access.
Why is identity required?
A bid on a home is binding and part of a regulated transaction. It therefore has to be in writing and tied to a known person — the seller needs to know who is bidding, and the bid log has to be verifiable. In real-world use, identity is established with BankID or MinID at the first bid. When you raise your bid in the same round, you don't need to confirm again.
Demo mode today — please be aware
Finnting does not yet have access to BankID or Vipps. The identity step is therefore a "Bekreft med Vipps" (Confirm with Vipps) button in demo mode:
- The button always succeeds — it performs no real signing or payment.
- The bid is clearly marked "Demo-modus — ingen ekte betaling eller signering" (Demo mode — no real payment or signing).
- This is an open and deliberate temporary solution, not a hidden shortcut.
Once real Vipps/BankID access is in place, the demo confirmation will be replaced by the real signing. The rest of the bidding flow stays the same.
Never share your login
Whether it's BankID or Vipps: you always confirm yourself, in your own app. You should never give BankID codes, passwords or one-time codes to anyone — not even to a "seller", "estate agent" or "customer service". See How to avoid scams.
